August 4 (vocations in later years) Blessed Savior, Saint John Vianney is the patron saint of parish priests with a special concern for men who enter the priesthood late in life. He himself had a delayed vocation, and he managed to get through seminary only with great difficulty. I ask him to intercede for all the men who have been called to the priesthood and have not yet responded. Whatever their obstacles are, dear Jesus, remove them. Prepare their hearts and minds so that when they do become priests, they are witnesses of piety, prayerfulness, sacrifices, and penances, thus leading their flocks to greater holiness. Saint John Vianney, pray for us. Amen. |
